Pre-Care Instructions
To ensure the best possible results and minimize the risk of side effects, please follow these guidelines before your lip filler appointment:
-
Avoid blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil) for at least 3–5 days prior to treatment, unless prescribed by your doctor.
-
Refrain from alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment — it can increase bruising and swelling.
-
Do not take caffeine or energy drinks on the day of your appointment, as they can raise blood pressure and increase sensitivity.
-
Avoid dental work (cleanings, fillings, etc.) within 2 weeks of your lip filler appointment to reduce infection risk.
-
Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water leading up to your treatment.
-
Come with clean skin — no makeup, lotions, or lip products on the treatment area.
-
If you are prone to cold sores, please inform your injector beforehand. You may need antiviral medication before your appointment.
After-Care Instructions
Following these steps will help your lips heal beautifully and achieve the best results:
-
Avoid touching or massaging your lips for at least 24 hours, unless instructed by your injector.
-
Swelling and bruising are normal and may last up to 7 days. Applying a cool compress (not ice directly) can help reduce swelling.
-
Avoid alcohol, exercise, and excessive heat (saunas, hot tubs, sunbathing) for 24–48 hours after treatment.
-
Do not apply lipstick or lip balm for at least 24 hours after your procedure.
-
Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated the first night to minimize swelling.
-
Stay hydrated — lips heal better when well-hydrated.
-
Avoid facials, dental work, or massages near the lips for at least 2 weeks.
-
Results typically settle within 2 weeks — a follow-up appointment can be scheduled if needed for adjustments.
