Lip Filler pre and aftercare

Pre-Care Instructions

To ensure the best possible results and minimize the risk of side effects, please follow these guidelines before your lip filler appointment:

  1. Avoid blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil) for at least 3–5 days prior to treatment, unless prescribed by your doctor.

  2. Refrain from alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment — it can increase bruising and swelling.

  3. Do not take caffeine or energy drinks on the day of your appointment, as they can raise blood pressure and increase sensitivity.

  4. Avoid dental work (cleanings, fillings, etc.) within 2 weeks of your lip filler appointment to reduce infection risk.

  5. Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water leading up to your treatment.

  6. Come with clean skin — no makeup, lotions, or lip products on the treatment area.

  7. If you are prone to cold sores, please inform your injector beforehand. You may need antiviral medication before your appointment.

After-Care Instructions

Following these steps will help your lips heal beautifully and achieve the best results:

  1. Avoid touching or massaging your lips for at least 24 hours, unless instructed by your injector.

  2. Swelling and bruising are normal and may last up to 7 days. Applying a cool compress (not ice directly) can help reduce swelling.

  3. Avoid alcohol, exercise, and excessive heat (saunas, hot tubs, sunbathing) for 24–48 hours after treatment.

  4. Do not apply lipstick or lip balm for at least 24 hours after your procedure.

  5. Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated the first night to minimize swelling.

  6. Stay hydrated — lips heal better when well-hydrated.

  7. Avoid facials, dental work, or massages near the lips for at least 2 weeks.

  8. Results typically settle within 2 weeks — a follow-up appointment can be scheduled if needed for adjustments.
